Description

Product Brief

GBTECH corrosion resistant carbon fiber rod (CFRP rebar) is a composite reinforcing bar manufactured by pultrusion using carbon fiber and vinyl ester or epoxy resin. Unlike steel rebar, CFRP rebar does not undergo electrochemical corrosion and is immune to chloride ions, salt spray and chemical attack. With a tensile strength exceeding 1000 MPa and density of approximately 1.6 g/cm³ (one-fifth that of steel), it is the ideal non-corrosive reinforcement for concrete structures exposed to marine, deicing salt and chemical environments. Surface options include smooth finish for NSM strengthening and ribbed/ sand-coated finish for concrete bond.

1. Product Specifications

Material: Carbon fiber + vinyl ester/epoxy resin (pultruded)

Diameter: 6-25mm (CFRP rebar standard); up to 50mm (general rod)

Tensile Strength: ≥1000 MPa

Elastic Modulus: ~120 GPa

Density: ~1.6 g/cm³ (1/5 of steel)

Surface: Smooth (for NSM) or ribbed/sand-coated (for concrete bond)

Corrosion Resistance: No electrochemical corrosion; 5000h salt spray test with zero strength loss

Certification: ISO 9001 Quality Management Certification

2. Product Features

Immune to Corrosion: CFRP rebar does not rust or corrode when exposed to chloride ions, deicing salts, seawater or chemical environments. This eliminates the primary durability failure mode of steel-reinforced concrete, dramatically extending service life.

High Strength, Lightweight: With tensile strength exceeding 1000 MPa (higher than standard steel rebar) and density only one-fifth that of steel, CFRP rebar reduces structural dead load and eases transportation and installation.

Excellent Concrete Bond: Ribbed and sand-coated surface profiles provide reliable bond strength with concrete, comparable to deformed steel rebar. Smooth surface option available for near-surface-mounted (NSM) structural strengthening.

Electrical & Thermal Neutrality: CFRP rebar is non-conductive and magnetically transparent, suitable for applications near power lines, railway systems and electromagnetic-sensitive equipment.

3. Applications

Bridge & Infrastructure: Deck slabs, barrier walls and pier columns in bridges exposed to deicing salts and coastal environments.

Marine & Coastal Engineering: Seawalls, dock pilings, offshore platform structures and port facilities.

Chemical Industry: Chemical plant floors, drainage channels, treatment tanks and structural elements exposed to acidic or alkaline environments.

Building Strengthening: NSM structural strengthening beams/columns, parking garage decks and tunnel linings.

4. Customization Services & Options

We provide CFRP rebar in various diameters (6-25mm standard, custom up to 50mm), surface profiles (smooth/ribbed/sand-coated), resin types (epoxy/vinyl ester) and cut lengths. Couplers and anchor details are available. Contact us for your corrosion-resistant reinforcement solution.

5. Pricing & Purchase Information

Price: CFRP rebar is priced per ton or per linear meter depending on diameter. While upfront material cost is higher than steel, lifecycle cost savings from eliminated corrosion maintenance make it cost-competitive.

Stock Availability: Standard diameters (8mm, 10mm, 12mm, 16mm) are available; custom diameters and cut lengths require lead time.

Shipping Options: Bundled in bulk, worldwide delivery available.

6. Customer Reviews & Cases

"We specified CFRP rebar for a coastal bridge deck replacement. After three years in a salt-spray environment, there is zero sign of corrosion, whereas traditional steel rebar in nearby bridges showed surface rust within two years."

"The ribbed CFRP bars bond well with concrete. Installation was straightforward — they weigh a fraction of steel, so our crew could handle longer pieces without mechanical assistance."

7. FAQ

Why use CFRP rebar instead of stainless steel?

CFRP rebar is not only corrosion-proof but also 75% lighter than steel, with higher tensile strength. It is non-conductive and eliminates magnetic interference, making it superior to both steel and stainless steel in corrosive environments.

How does the cost compare to steel rebar?

Upfront material cost is higher than standard steel rebar. However, when lifecycle costs are considered — eliminating corrosion repair, extending service life to 75-100 years, and reducing structural dead load — CFRP rebar offers superior value in corrosive environments.

What diameter options are available?

Standard CFRP rebar diameters include 6mm, 8mm, 10mm, 12mm, 16mm and 25mm. Larger custom diameters up to 50mm are available for special projects.
