China’s carbon fiber production capacity accounts for around 50% of the global total. However, prices of general-grade products once plummeted by nearly 50%, slashing the industry’s average profit margin to a mere 330 yuan per tonne. Meanwhile, major international players have been scaling back their presence. In 2025, Dow Chemical exited its carbon fiber joint venture, while Germany’s SGL Carbon shut down multiple production bases across Europe and North America.
In the second phase of the carbon fiber industry, competition hinges not on scale, but on value.
A new battlefield has opened.
The real opportunities lie in high-end segments. Composite materials will account for over 50% of the C929 airliner’s structure and more than 70% of eVTOL airframes. For commercial aerospace satellites, every kilogram of weight reduction cuts launch costs by approximately $20,000. In 2026, the world’s first 100-ton mass production line for T1200-grade carbon fiber will be put into operation in China, catering to lightweighting demands for reusable rockets and next-generation eVTOLs.
At the same time, the U.S. Bureau of Industry and Security (BIS) and Japan’s Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry have imposed export controls on T1000-grade and higher carbon fiber products to China. Independent and controllable supply of domestic high-end carbon fiber has become a national strategic priority.
GBTECH’s positioning: not merely a material supplier, but a solution provider
We launched our research and processing of carbon fiber as early as 1997. From fabrics and prepregs to tubes, sheets and custom structural parts, and further to the full manufacturing of complete UAVs, GBTECH has evolved from a material specialist to an application expert.
Our Differentiated Advantages:
Global layout with localized services. We have subsidiaries and warehouses in the United States to guarantee compliant transactions and fast delivery. At the Moscow Composite Expo in March 2025, multiple clients confirmed customized orders on-site.
Customization capability. Instead of offering generic standard products, we deliver optimal tailored solutions for each project. We provide full-size customization covering carbon fiber sheets, carbon fiber tubes and other carbon fiber products.
Full industrial chain expertise. With thorough knowledge spanning from raw fiber to finished products, we understand how every manufacturing stage impacts final performance, enabling us to effectively solve practical challenges for customers.
Competition in the second half of the industry hinges on solution capabilities.
GBTECH has never positioned itself merely as a carbon fiber manufacturer, but as a partner delivering carbon fiber application solutions. Whether it involves stringent certification requirements for aerospace, cost constraints in commercial spaceflight, or technological iterations within the low-altitude economy, we leverage engineering thinking to help our clients address one core question:
“What materials and manufacturing processes will help my products stand out from competitors?”
